Why use a Blue Badge Tourist Guide?

Updated: Jan 10, 2023

Here at Bath Walking Tours we only use the services of Blue Badge Guides. It is a privilege to introduce visitors to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Bath and South West England. We wanted to be certain that the standard of guiding was top rate and that all our visitors would get an excellent and consistent experience regardless of which guide leads the tour.

Our experience so far has confirmed that we have made the right decision!

So why did we choose to only use Blue Badge Guides?

The Blue Badge is a symbol of excellence in tourist guiding. It is recognised internationally as the qualification of excellence in site and heritage interpretation, and in communication skills. It is awarded only following extensive training and rigorous examination. Blue Badge Tourist Guides pride themselves on being up to date and have a comprehensive programme of continual professional development.

All Blue Badge Tourist Guides are members of The British Guild of Tourist Guides. the national professional association for Blue Badge Tourist Guides working throughout the UK. It represents around 1,800 guides who offer guiding in over 30 languages. We felt that the backing of a professional institution was important, giving access to a broad range of services including insurance, continuous professional development, as well as to a diverse network of experienced guides.

Did we make the right choice?

Since launch we have had nothing but praise for the tours and events led by our guides from our visitors. Their knowledge is excellent, but more importantly their ability to create the right environment and atmosphere during tours by bringing the history, architecture and backstories to life is second to none.
